On the 5th of June, Respeito and Música com Dendê hosted an inspiring event that brought together a massive and beautiful male audience, united by a shared desire for positive change. The atmosphere was filled with heartfelt testimonies, deep reflections, and meaningful conversations about masculinity, cultural heritage, and the roles men play in shaping healthier relationships.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Consul General João Alfredo dos Anjos and the Consulate General of Brazil in London and the team for generously providing the venue that made this gathering possible. Our heartfelt thanks also go to our incredible guest speakers: Jamal Jones-Thomas and Paulo Pinto João from Future Men, Sam Alexander, from Baque de Axé! Their participation encouraged attendees to reflect on ancestral influences, challenge traditional gender roles, and explore how we can build healthier models of masculinity and safer communities. This initiative plays a vital role in raising awareness among migrant men in the UK, creating space for honest discussions around masculinity and cultural identity.
Thanks to Elizabeth Ashford and Joseph Seddon from the Metropolitan Police for their valuable contributions. We also extend our gratitude to the Consul General of Portugal, Manuel Grainha do Vale, Portuguese consulars, Luís Moitinho de Almeida, Deputy Consul General, and Francisca Gonçalves, Senior Consular Officer, and Cllr Diogo Costa for their valued presence and continued support.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this event a meaningful step forward. Together, we continue to inspire change and promote safer, more inclusive spaces for both men and women.
